The key to a effortless and powerful golf swing is a great shoulder turn. I’m going to outline three exercises over three Golf Mobility WOD blog articles. By the end of these articles, you will have the best shoulder turn you ever had by performing three simple exercises in just 5 minutes. Before I you give you those exercises, I want you to test your shoulder turn.
- Sit on the edge of your chair or couch with your knees and feet together.
- While sitting up straight, hold a club across the back of your shoulders.
- The final step is to make an x on the ground with 2 clubs (see picture).
- When you are all set up, turn to the right and left. Use the x on the ground as a visual reference to measure your turn.
I want you to test and retest your turn, so that you can see how your shoulder turn improves. Now that you have completed the test, here is your first exercise.
- Open the Book-
To perform this exercises get down on the ground. With your hands under your shoulders and knees under your hips, place you right hand behind your head. (see Picture) From this position, try to keep your hips still and turn up and to the right using a 3/3 count as far as you comfortably can. Perform this movement 5 times on each side. Once you have completed the exercise, go retest and see if your turn has improved in any way.
